5G TECHNOLOGY

 What is 5G ?

Fifth generation wireless technology(5G) is the latest generation of digital cellular network , engineered to increase stability, speed and decrease latency of wireless network.5G improves the mobile network to interconnect peoples as well as interconnect and control machines and devices. Data transmitted over wireless broadband connections can transmit at multi-gigabit speeds, with peak speed as 20 Gbps theoretically. This speed is not given for one user but when we use this speed practically minimum speed can be 100Mbps to one user for data transmission. The 5G wireless broadband speed is more faster than 4G LTE broadband speed. Latency, or the time it takes device to communicate with wireless network is 1ms or lower for real time feedback.

How does 5G work ?

5G networks use a system of cell sites that divide their territory into sectors and send encoded data through radio waves. Each cell site must be connected to a network backbone, whether through a wired or wireless back-haul connection.Fourth generation (4G) Long Term Evolution(LTE) which requires large, high powered cell towers to radiate signals over long distances is the foundation for 5G technology.5G wireless signals are transmitted via large numbers of multiple small cell stations located on sites like light poles or building roofs. The use of large number of small cells is necessary since 5G depend on a millimeter wave spectrum between 30 GHz and 300 GHz that can only travel over short distances and is subject to interference from weather and physical obstacles. 5G networks use a type of encoding called OFDM, which is similar to the encoding that 4G LTE uses. The air interface (switching from node to node while maintaining mmWave speeds) is designed for much lower latency and greater flexibility than LTE, though. 4G LTE cell towers use omini directional transmission to radiate signals but 5G networks use beamforming technology. Beamforming means signals will be transmitted according to the network usage of users.Efficiency of towers can be enhance in 5G by using beamforming technology.

Features of 5G Network

5G networks combine more spectrum, allowing for more bandwidth and much faster speeds for consumers. The technology enables consumers to connect to and leverage the benefits of a wide range of spectrum. The most commonly used 5G technology is mmWave. MM wave signals can be easily blocked by objects such as trees, walls and buildings meaning that, much of the time, MM waves can only cover about a city block within direct line of sight of a cell site or node.

Technologies supported by 5G

5G networks will focus communication networks onto “things.” It will integrate mobile tech, big data, internet of things and cloud computing, and is expected to generate a variety of new applications, uses and business cases as the technology . 5G will support smart devices, including self-driving cars, wearable and internet of things (IoT). Autonomous cars and IoT devices are expected to be major revenue drivers for 5G networks.
